What is a Poker Boat Run?
Basically, a poker run is a fund-raising event patterned after the card game of poker. The difference is that instead of playing poker sitting at a table, participants travel by power boat to 5 different stops around Crooked Lake and the “Black Hole.”

How it works

Participants start at the Crooked Lake Yacht Club where they buy one or more blank Tally Sheets.  At the CLYC and each stop an Official Helper has a container filled with a deck of cards.  Participants stir the cards and draw one card for each Tally Sheet they purchased and the Helper punches their Tally Card with the appropriate information. i.e. card suit and number. Participants then travel to 5 stops around the Lake to draw another card.

All then return to the Yacht Club to draw their final card and determine the best 5 card poker hand they have from the 7 cards picked and the winners of the best 4 poker hands win cash prizes.

And there is an Ice Cream Social after the Run!

This is not a race!  Just a leisurely trip around our beautiful Lake with family and friends, HAVE FUN, and support the Crooked Lake Sailors!  Guests are welcome on the boats, the more the merrier. And if you don’t have a boat on Crooked Lake we’ll get you a ride in one.

Each Tally Sheet costs $25 or five hands for $100.  Prize money is $200 for the best poker hand, $100 for second best hand and $50 for the third best hand.  Players may buy and play as many Tally Sheets as they wish. (All players must be 18 to play.)

Besides buying Tally Sheets, volunteers are needed to man the locations and help at the Club.
